PENERAPAN PENDEKATAN RECIPROCAL TEACHING TERHADAP PEMAHAMAN KONSEP MATEMATIS SISWA KELAS XI IPA SMAN 9 PADANG

ABSTRACT

The research was motivated by the lack of comprehension of mathematical concepts of grade XI Science students of SMAN 9 Padang. One approach to learning that can be used by teachers to overcome these problems is the approach of Reciprocal Teaching. This research aimed to determine whether students' comprehension of mathematical concepts by applying the Reciprocal Teaching approach is better than the student comprehension of mathematical concepts by applying conventional teaching on grade XI of  science students of SMA 9 Padang. Type of this research is experimental research; the design of research is randomized trials on the subject. The population in this research were grade XI of science students of SMA 9 Padang Year 2012/2013. Technique that is used in this research is random sampling. Classes are selected as the sample is a class XI IPA 2 as the experimental class and class XI IPA 3 as the control classes. Instrument of this research is the final test of comprehension mathematical concepts in essay form with reliability  = 0.733. The technique of data analysis is used t-test one side using MINITAB. The result obtained by the t-test is P-value = 0.009 is less than 0.05. So it can be concluded students comprehension of mathematical concepts by applying the Reciprocal Teaching approach is better than the students' comprehension of mathematical concepts by applying conventional learning.
